Kurukshetra Panorama & Science Centre (KPSC) in Kurukshetra, working under the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, is engaged in popularizing and promoting science especially among the youth through various interactive models, exhibitions, educational programmes and activities throughout the year after the inauguration on 6th March 2001 by the then Hon’ble former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Kurukshetra Panorama & Science Centre facilities are specifically designed to augment the learning curves of the students not only on curricular concepts in basic physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, astronomy, electricity, electronics etc. groups.
PMHBL pumping station is located at village - Bala at Mangalore, near Mangalore Refinery & Petro-chemicals Ltd (MRPL). At Mangalore, petroleum products are drawn from the storage tanks at MRPL. Five headers for five different products viz. MS, SKO, HSD, ATF and Naphtha are provided from storage tanks to booster pump suction manifold in PMHBL. The Product is then dispatched to Neriya intermediate Pumping station using mainline pump through a 20” diameter pipeline. For sectionalizing Mangalore-Neriya pipeline section, three sectionalizing valves (SV-1, SV-2, and SV-3) are provided. Also, two Block Valves (BV-1 & BV-2) are provided at major river crossings across Gurupur and Netravati rivers respectively.
The intermediate pumping station of PMHBL is at the foot hills of Charmadi Ghat is located at village Neriya, Belthangady Taluk, District Dakshina Kannada. Neriya is an intermediate pumping station (to boost the pressure of the product) located in between Mangalore and Hassan at Ch. 79.50 KM of pipeline. Petroleum product received from Mangalore through pipeline is pumped to Hassan using mainline pumps installed at Neriya through 24 Inch diameter pipeline. From the downstream of Neriya the ground elevation increase from 125m above MSL to 1127 m. above MSL at chainage 98.60 km. For sectionalizing Neriya-Hassan pipeline, two sectionalizing valve (SV-4 & SV-5) & one Block valve (BV-3 across Hemavati River) are provided.
The intermediate pumping & Delivery Station (TOP) of PMHBL is located at KIADB Industrial Growth Centre, Bommanaikanahalli village at Hassan. The product is dispatched to Bangalore through a 20” diameter pipeline. For sectionalizing the Hassan ? Bangalore pipeline five sectionalizing valves (SV-6, SV-7, SV-8, SV-9, SV-10) are provided with Intermediate pigging station at Kurdihalli.
The Receipt Terminal of PMHBL is located near Devangunti Railway station, Tarabahalli village, Hoskote Taluk, Bangalore. At Devangunti petroleum products are directly pumped into Oil Marketing Company tanks thru the Direct Hook up facility provided. The interphase is taken into the interphase tanks provided at PMHBL Station. The interphase is pumped into OMC tanks using Interphase pumps. Interphase delivery is controlled by the ratio flow converters provided in delivery line of the interphase pumps.
The pipeline takes off from Mangalore Refinery located in Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka State. The pipeline passes through 237 villages & 17 Taluks under administrative jurisdiction of Dakshina Kannada, Chikkamagalur, Hassan, Mandya, Tumkur and Bangalore rural & Bangalore urban Districts of Karnataka State.
